The tour is a city tour and we have seen it so we will try and visit the church out here by the dock. This afternoon we will travel to the Palace.
After the tours left, we decided to take a walk. We wanted to see this church which we took pictures of last visit. We walked over the train tracks and up to the church. The lawn man told us which door was open and in we went.
What a beautiful church. It sits here by the docks.
And after we entered, we were impressed.
A view up the side of the main church.
Not sure where these stairs lead. The door was locked.
Several side altars can be found in the church.
Then on the left side in front is this wonderful chapel. You cannot enter as it is locked but you can see into the chapel.
The chapel is very different from the main church. Where the main church is sort of plain, not so in the chapel.
Around the ceiling of the chapel.
And the altar of the chapel.
And of course, you must look at the floors.
This is another side altar.
And the main altar of the church.
The rear of the church.
This is an area called Danube City. It is one of the most important urban building projects in Austria.
Just a close up of one of the newer buildings out by the river.
This is Millennium Tower. It is 202 m high and has 50 floors. It is Austria's tallest building and one of Europe's highest office buildings. It contains office space and flats, shops and restaurants and cafes and a cinema.
Our balcony in balcony in 218.
And our balcony in 312. No difference.
After the church visit, we headed to the super market. We just bought pretzels. Then we continued walking and we got in the largest apartment complex we had seen. We finally made it out and followed the river back to the boat.
I went up to the lounge to cross stitch as I can spread out there while Bob worked on his pictures.
Lunch was with Trink. John was meeting someone in Vienna so he will return to the boat later. After lunch we had the tour to Schonbrunn Palace. They do not allow any pictures taken inside so sorry, the only one I got was with my phone. I did post it on Facebook.
For those who don't know, Schonbrunn Palace is an example of Baroque architecture and opulence, illustrating the tastes, interests and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs. It was built as the summer residence of the Hapsburg Emperors. It has 1441 rooms. It soon became one of their favorite homes. The gardens are beautiful. It is too bad we could not take pictures. Left the camera on the bus.
Returned to the boat and sat and read on the balcony for a bit. Then dressed for dinner. Most of the passengers will be attending some concert so the boat will be quiet. There were only 20 of us who did not attend the concert. We sat with Lillian and Marilyn again. I had perch as last time I tried the Schnitzel and it was dry.
Back to the cabin where I worked on the blog for a bit and then read and lights out.
