Our hotel was right across the street from the train station so we walked over pulling out luggage all the way. The cobble stones make dragging the luggage a little difficult. But we made it. Our train was scheduled to leave at 10:16am so we headed to track 22. Bob went to buy a book on Munich and when he returned we went up to our car and waited till they opened the doors. Our luggage was stowed and we settled in for the 6 hour ride.
The ride was uneventful. We had lunch in the dining car. We both had a salad and a beer. Then tried to take a nap but not able as the seats do not recline. At any rate, we arrived in Hamburg on time and got a cab to take us to the hotel. We were upgraded to a Jr. Suite. Too bad we are only here one night.
Took a walk and found the weather cold and windy. So we shopped for some chips and nuts and returned to the hotel. Open a bottle of wine and ate the chips while watching BBC news.
Decided to eat in the hotel for a salad. I got an email from Cunard to say the QM2 will be late coming to Hamburg. So we cannot get on her until after 5pm. I think sail away is scheduled for 1am. I will miss it.
Dinner was good. Each of us had a salad and Bob had a martini while I opted for water. Now watching news and will turn off the lights.
Next entry will be about our day in Hamburg and the QM2.
