QM2 First Sea Day

Slept well.  Some time during the night we left Hamburg.  We are not sailing toward Southampton.  There some of the folks will get off but I think most of us got on yesterday.

Breakfast in King's Court which is the buffet ( the place we have to eat if we do not dress properly).  The buffet is typical of any ship.  Except no refills on coffee or tea, you have to do that yourself.  But what I had was good.  Scrambled eggs, crispy bacon (finally), and mushrooms.

After breakfast, we wandered around the ship.  Decks 7 and 8.  Later will visit some other decks.  The ship is big.  And the weather is cold and rainy.  So will check out the pools later.

This is our cabin.  Bed quite comfortable.  And lots of pillows for Bob.

The desk area is tight.  I work on the coffee table while Bob sits at the desk.  We found out we can raise the coffee table to the right height for me to type in comfort.  So it works out fine.

We spent the day exploring the ship.  I will post pictures as we go along.

This is the elevators at stairway B.  We are on deck 8 and the buffet is on deck 7 so we use the stairs.

We enjoyed lunch in the King's Court.  Then back to the cabin for our nap.

After the nap we headed down to the King's Court for coffee and tea.  We took it to the Winter Garden and sat by a window and enjoyed the sailing.  The weather is still cold.  I don't think we will see warm weather this entire trip.  Oh well.

We have early dinner so we dressed and enjoyed a cocktail in the cabin.  Then headed to deck 2 for dinner.  After dinner we enjoyed the Strings in the Chart Room.  We had another cocktail and were joined by two German ladies who just took the ship from Hamburg to Southampton.  On Saturday, the European Football final is being held in London.  It is between two teams from Germany.  So I think lots of the folks might be going to the game.  The one lady did speak some English but the other did not or would not.  Who knows?

Back to the cabin to watch some news and the lights out.  We gained our first hour.  Five more to go.
