Munich, Germany

We got up and dressed for breakfast here in the hotel.  It is a buffet with all kinds of selections.  Then we got ready for our bus tour.  Our guide was the same gentleman we had yesterday for the ride into Munich.  John.  Nice fellow.

Our first stop was the the summer residence of the royal family.  This is called the Castle Nymphenburg.  King Ludwig II was born here.  The family really only stayed here during the summer months.

Nothing like a small summer cottage.

Next we stopped at BMW World.  I picked out my next car.  They had a types of BMWs on display as well as the Mini's and Rolls Royces.  BMW is one of the largest manufacturers in the world and has its headquarters in Munich.  The assembly plant is quite large.

I think I look smart but it is not as easy to get out of as my Honda.

This one is a bit out of our price range.

BMW headquarters.

We then headed into the city itself.  The bus left us off and we then walked about.

The Munch Opera House.

We were in time to hear the glockenspiel.  The two levels rotate.  The upper level is the wedding procession and the lower level shows the coopers dancing.

The netting is to keep the birds away.

This shows the Bavarian slaying the Austrian.  Never happened in real life - only here.

And the coopers dancing in the square.

Lunch was at a cafe recommended by John.  We all ate there.  We sat by ourselves.  I had six different sausages along with sauerkraut and whipped potatoes.  Bob had garlic soup and apple strudel.  We shared them all except for the soup.  And of course, we each had a dark beer.  I am getting to like dark beer better than blond beer.  More flavor.

Headed back to the hotel and a nap.  I caught up on the blog first and then nap.  I bit the bullet and bought 24 hours of internet time.  Better than carrying around the computer looking for free internet.

I found out that in this part of Germany, they fly the Bavarian Flag and not the German flag.  They are still uncomfortable about the role they played in WWII.

When we awoke, we found it raining along with thunder and lightening.  Now not sure if we will go out or just stay in the hotel.
