Punta Del Este, Uruguay

Thursday and we are at anchor here in Punta Del Este, Uruguay.  This is a popular resort town on the coast of Uruguay.  It is known as the "St. Tropez of South America".  Lots of beaches and shopping in the area. We are not doing a tour but will take the tender in and walk about.

We were up early so Bob started the wash.  He is getting quite good at this.  When the wash was finished, we headed up to the pool to exercise.  Bonnie was just leaving and David was still in the pool.  Bert came for a bit along with a couple of other men.  That is the reason we like to get into the pool early, not as much traffic.

We had breakfast in Compass Rose.  Bob likes it there but I like to be able to take from the buffet.  That way you only take what you want and not what they want to serve you.  Back to the cabin to work on blog and read the paper.  Plus do the puzzles.

We got ready to tender into the town.  It is a ride of about 15 to 20 minutes.  Not bad but if you only have a little time off, then you stay on the ship.  As we were waiting to leave, the magician got on with his rabbit and Bob was going to take a picture of it when he realized he did not have the card in the camera.  I said just buy another one so you will have an extra.

We walked down the Ramblus to the shopping area looking for a bathing suit for me.  Wow.  We found an outlet store that sold bathing suits and not the tiny ones.  I bought two and hopefully they will last until we get home.  We continued on and found a camera store and Bob bought  an additional card for his camera.  The store had lost all electricity so we had to pay in cash.  Everyone takes dollars.  The girls posed for Bob to see if the card worked.
Happy for a sale
But boy was it hot.  We walked throughout the town and back to the tender dock. You pass many new condo buildings and lots of beaches.  Plus a yacht basin where many boats are tied up.

We were soaked when we got back to the ship.  Changed and headed up to La Veranda for lunch.  Then back to the cabin for a nap for Bob and I am reading "Unbroken".  Found a copy in the ship's library so decided to give it  try.  I am enjoying it but not sure will be able to finish before we get off.  Seems we do not have enough free time.

I went up to the needlepoint group and stayed for trivia.  Boy am I bad at this.  But we get a lot of laughs at some of our answers.

Tonight was the Regent Block Party.  The cabin next to us has had new people each leg.   Now it is Denise and Ernie from LA.  They will just be on this leg.  She has five grandsons.  No princess.

Dinner was in Signatures again and as usual, very good.  Bob had a blue cheese quiche and I had the lobster ravioli.  No desserts.  Back to the cabin and read then lights out.
