Final Sea Day

We gained one hour last night but still have one to go.  It was foggy most of the night with the horn blowing every few minutes.  It finally cleared around 2 in the morning.

Forgot I had already posted this picture but another one of the casino.  We have not visited the casino this trip.  It has lost it's magic for me.

Breakfast in King's Court and then I went to the purser office to figure out our departure.   We have not received any information including luggage tags.  So when I talked with them, they said we could get off the ship at 10:45am.  I told her we were driving all the way to Florida and would like an earlier start so now we can get off at 8:45.  Much better.

Then to Winer Garden to cross stitch for about two hours.  And then back to the cabin to watch some news.  Last night I watched "Legally Blond" while Bob slept.  On this leg we have seen "Trouble with the Curve" and "Casino Royale".  The TV selection is not great.  Old movies.

Bob and I walked on the deck.  I did three laps for 1.1 miles.  Bob stayed and did another 3.   My back started bothering me so I quit early.  Then lunch in King's Court and nap time.

Did not go to needlepoint as I slept till 2:30pm and I did not feel like rushing.  Oh well.

Both of us went to tea and then I did some cross stitch and Bob started to pack.  We dressed for dinner and headed to the Lion's Pub for our cocktails.

Dinner was fine and after we packed all of our stuff and placed the luggage outside our cabin.  I am checking emails and doing the blog to use up the remaining minutes I have on file.

We will arrive in NYC pretty early so I am not sure I will be up to see the Statue of Liberty.  We will head to the airport to pick up the car and be on our way.  Wilmington here we come.

Fifth Sea Day

Wow, we are coming to an end of this trip.  It has been great so far.  The seas of the Atlantic have been really calm.  We did have one day where you felt the motion of the ocean, but not bad at all.  Except for the weather being cold and very windy.  People walk on deck 7 bundled up.  Mittens, hats, parkas, etc. And then you will see someone in shorts and a t-shirt.  But that person is walking fast.

Breakfast in King's Court.  We spoke with a man who had taken Amtrak up to NYC from Miami.  It takes 27 hours.  Then he took the QM2 to Southampton and then traveled around UK and then back on QM2.  He lives in Key West.  He is flying home.  He said he misses his dog.

I did my cross stitch in Winer Garden while the French Open is on the TV.  I sat there for two hours and then back to the cabin.  We had an early lunch and then an early nap.  I did not sleep that long so for the first time all trip, I went to the needlepoint gathering.  There I met a lady named Nancy who looked very familiar.  She was on the Rio to Ft. Lauderdale portion of our cruise last year.  I remembered her and her needlepoint angles.  And then when I mentioned it, she remembered me too.

Back to the cabin to clean up and dress for dinner.  Tonight is the last formal night.  We are having our cocktails in the Lion's Pub and then dinner in the King's Court.  Tonight we sat in the pasta area and I had lasagna and Bob had the pasta special.   All very good.

Back to the cabin and read.  We gained another hour tonight.

Just a different view of the ship.

Tonight it is very foggy so the fog horn blows every two minutes.  It actually is kind of neat.

Tomorrow is our last day at sea.  We arrive in NYC around 6am on the 1st of June.  I hope we are up to watch the entrance to the city.

Fourth Sea Day of Six

So we got up at the regular time.  I worked on the blog while Bob cleaned up.

Breakfast in King's Court.  Today only fruit and then half of a muffin.  Back to the cabin to collect my cross stitch and then down to the Winter Garden to sit by the window.

We sent laundry out this morning.  They do have free washers and dryers on the ship but on our deck they only have two of each.  And it is a small room with no place to sit and wait.  And I did not feel like standing around.  So to the laundry with the stuff.

While I was doing my cross stitch, it is amazing how many people stop by to look at what I am doing.  They do have a needlepoint and knitting gathering but it is in the afternoon right at nap time so I have not gone yet.

We had an early lunch and then an early nap.  I could not sleep at first but then did.  With this cold, sleeping is my favorite activity.  Then down for tea and I had a soft serve cone.

Before dinner we went to the Lion's Pub again.  Tonight they had a piano player who played favorite hits.  Some of the people wanted to sing along.

Dinner at our table in Britannia again.

This is the Britannia Restaurant from the third floor.  We sit on the second floor.

As you enter the restaurant, you see this picture.

I am sitting at our table.  It is by itself which we like.

That is our table by the wall.

And a view down the stairway.  The restaurant is nice, not too loud where we sit.

After dinner we came back to the cabin as we did not need more to drink.  I read for a bit and then lights out.  Clocks stayed the same today.  But we still have two hours to go I think.  But maybe only one more.

Third Sea Day In a Row

So last night we still ended up going to bed early.  Since we are not in formal wear, we could not attend the Commodore's Party.  And we cannot go to any lounge after dinner except for the Winter Garden.  Such stuffy rules.  I am sure people do but Bob and I do not want to be thrown out of somewhere so we just head back to the cabin and have our drink there.

We are up early this morning.  Bob was up by 4:44am and I got up then also.

Forgot to say that yesterday we attended the lecture by Dr, William Fowler.  He spoke on "Columbus and Others".  He is a good speaker and story teller.  Will attend his lecture this morning.

As pictures make this blog more interesting, here are some of this ship.

The Grand Lobby is just that, Grand.

Nice double staircase.

And of course, the Casino.  We have not gone to the casino yet, not sure if we will.  I would rather lose my money on a beverage that just put it in a machine.  Some ships you have a chance, not sure about QM2 as they nickel and dime you for everything.

If you want to go to the Martini Mixology, the charge is $25 plus 15% service per person.  Now, how many martinis can one drink.  And I already know how to make a great martini.  So we will not be attending this one.

We had breakfast in King's Court and then I stayed in Winter Garden to do my cross stitch.  There were two ladies sitting at the next table and we all got to talking.  They came over on the Caribbean Princess and then spent two weeks traveling around the British Isles.   They are not impressed with the QM2.  Enjoyed the Princess much better.  So I am not alone.

We went to the lecture on the first steam ships to cross the Atlantic.   Again by Dr. Fowler.  The room was packed.  He is a great speaker.  Next time we need to go a little early to get seats together.   I sat next to a Bob from Texas and Florida.  His Florida home is in Cocoa Beach.

We decided to have lunch in the Britannia Restaurant.  We sat at a table for 8.  We do not like such big tables but this was fine.  Two couples were from Canada.  One had taken the QM2 over and the other had taken the Caribbean Princess over.  The third couple was from outside of DC.  They are not married.  I did not get to speak with them as they were on the other side of Bob.

Back to the cabin for a nap and then since it was so late, dressed for dinner.  We went to the Lion's Pub for a cocktail.  We sat at the bar as all the tables were taken.  Again, if you are not early, you lose out of the prime seats.  But the bar was fine with us.  They had a piano player for the entertainment.

Dinner in Britannia at our regular table.  The chicken I had was dry but Bob had an eggplant dish that he said was wonderful.  After dinner we stopped at the Chart Room and listened to the harpist.  This is too quiet to really hear.  A couple from California sat at the chairs across from us and we spoke with them on travels, etc.  They were heading into dinner and we then headed to the cabin.

Tonight no clock forward so we went to bed at a decent time.

Second of 6 sea days

Of course, since we went to bed so early, I am up early.  So I used this time to upload the pictures and work on the blog.

Yesterday, on our walk, we found the Pavilion Pool and Bar.  This is an indoor space.  In the afternoon, they called for the stretcher team up there.  Not sure what happened.  They also have two hot tubs.  Could be someone fainted.

At the bottom of the picture you can see the table tennis game.  They have two tables up here.

There is this scenic elevator that I took and you end up in the beauty salon.

I guess this was unique at the time.  Now most of the new ships have these kind of elevators.  This ship was built in 2004 and it is showing its age.

And anyone for a manicure?

I was considering a pedicure, but at $99 it does not seem like a bargain.  But nice chairs.

We had breakfast in King's Court where we spoke with Max again.  We were there early.  Then I gathered my sewing and headed to the Winter Garden.  There I sat by a window and did some cross stitch.  Several people stop by and look at my project.  It is coming along.  Bob came down and had some tea with me while they cleaned up the cabin.

Lunch in King's Court.  Food is uneventful.  Nothing special so far.  So both Bob and I make salads.  Even the salad choices are weak.

We took a nap as we had gotten up so early.  Then we just hung around the cabin until it was time for the movie.  We went to the 5pm showing of "Zero Dark Thirty".  I was not sure how I would like it but both Bob and I enjoyed the movie and did not cough too many times.  And we stayed awake for the entire film.  Will wonders never cease?

We went back to the cabin to freshen up and then to King's Court for dinner.  Tonight was a bit different as I knew that was where I was headed so for the first time in my cruising career, I did not dress up for dinner.  So there QM2.

Back to the cabin to read and then lights out.  We gained another hour.  We forgot how quick they come.  We need to gain a total of 6 hours before we get to NYC on the 1st of June.

First of 6 Sea Days

Last night we went up to the sail away party but it was too cold and windy for me as we were already dressed for dinner.  So we headed to the Winter Court for a cocktail.  Bob and Barbara from New Jersey and Florida sat at the next table.  This is their first QM2.  So far they are not impressed.

We went down for dinner.  This trip we have a new waiter.  Brando has been sent to another restaurant.  Now we have Norman.  Tracey is still with us.  We also have a new cabin steward Richardo.  He is just back from vacation.  Sure hope they share tips.

Gained another hour but we went to bed early.  Wanted to watch the football match but it was not on TV.  They were showing it in three different places around the ship but we had already changed into our pj's.

The seas are very calm so far.

We decided to get up and have breakfast.  King's Court again.  Then we walked about the ship to do some more exploring.

Our cabin is fairly mid ship.  This is the hallway to the end from our cabin.

We walked to the other end of this hallway where the library is located.

They have a great selections of all types of books and a few chair in the front to enjoy a quiet place to read.

Up to deck nine where there is the Commodore Lounge.  This is the answer to a Crows Nest.

It is not a large space but quite at least until they open the bar.  I sat here most of the morning doing cross stitch as it is bright.

We then went up to deck 10 and found the Atlantic Room.  This is a basic card room.

I find it unusual that it is in the front of the ship.  These people do not need a view.  They are looking at their cards.  Oh well.

Then out on the open deck.  Lots of room for playing games.

I will post more of our tour tomorrow.

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful.  I did not attend the cruise critic gathering.  We enjoyed a nap instead.   Then tea and coffee.

Oh, I forgot about lunch.  We sat at a table for two right next to another table and we got to talking.  Max and his wife are from Mexico but Americans.  Have lived in Mexico for about 10 years.  Are now thinking about moving to Florida.  They took an MSC over from Ft. Lauderdale to Kiel, Germany.  Then they did a Viking river Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest.  And now the QM2.  Looks like we are not the only ones.  They were very interested in Ponte Vedra Beach.

We dressed for dinner.  Bob had bought a tie in Southampton so he wore it.   I dressed up too.  We went up to the Commodore Lounge for a cocktail and then at 6 headed down to dinner.  Bob then told me he was not going to the dining room but wanted to eat in the King's Court.  I felt like a fool.  There I am all dressed up with people in shorts, jeans, work out clothes.  I could not eat.  I can't explain how I felt.  So Bob finished his salad and wine and we came back to the cabin.  I don't mind eating there, just not dressed they way I was.  So it turned out to not be a good night for me.

We gained another hour but we were back in the cabin so early.  Watched a bit of the news and then turned out the light.  I am getting sick, I think.  Coughing all night.

Southampton

We got up early as we gained one hour last night.  So we walked around deck 7 and watched us come into Southampton.  There are three other ships here.  Will find out who they are later.

We went to breakfast in the King's Court.  We found a table for 4 and sat down and we were joined by an older couple from England.  They have been on since Southampton for 15 nights.  They are getting off today.  He is retired from a family business which his children now run and she is retired nurse.  A charming couple.  Used to own a home in Punta Gorda but sold it.

We went up to deck 12 and found the indoor pool.  Will try it out later.  Now catching up with blog.

They are getting off the ship so we decided to get off around 9:30 and take the shuttle into the town.  Of course, we had to get in the long line of people getting off but the shuttle was still there, so we took it into town.  It lets you off right by a mall.  I had taken my computer with me so I could up load the pictures using Starbucks or such.  Well, we went to Starbucks and of course, after we ordered, we found out the internet was not working properly.  So we went into the mall and I stopped at an Apple store.  I had the guy teach me a few things and then I asked if I could use the internet.  He said sure.  So I uploaded the pictures really quick.

We walked about the town a bit looking for a wine store, but I think they drink beer here.  No good wines so we walked back to the shuttle stop and the bus was there.  Back on the ship but we had to go through security again.  This time was stricter than in Hamburg.  Made it through and back to the cabin.

Lunch in King's Court where I only had a salad.  Dad took his nap while I did cross stitch on the balcony.  They are testing the life boats so we have a good view.

Bob is walking the deck while I am blogging.  The following pictures are of the grand lobby.  A beautiful flower arrangement in the center.  Smells great.

These are along the walls of the center stairway.  The above one is of South America.

Not sure what these are.  But they line the wide hall way.  The hallway is very wide.

The new folks must attend the muster drill but since we went in Hamburg, we do not have to go again.

Dinner is at 6pm which is a bit early but then we get to listen to the Strings or tonight there is a Harpist. The Strings are still playing but they move them around and we are still getting used to this ship.

Will post now  as I do not think much more is going to happen today.  Tomorrow is the first of 6 sea days.  There might not be much to tell but I will try and keep in interesting.

QM2 First Sea Day

Slept well.  Some time during the night we left Hamburg.  We are not sailing toward Southampton.  There some of the folks will get off but I think most of us got on yesterday.

Breakfast in King's Court which is the buffet ( the place we have to eat if we do not dress properly).  The buffet is typical of any ship.  Except no refills on coffee or tea, you have to do that yourself.  But what I had was good.  Scrambled eggs, crispy bacon (finally), and mushrooms.

After breakfast, we wandered around the ship.  Decks 7 and 8.  Later will visit some other decks.  The ship is big.  And the weather is cold and rainy.  So will check out the pools later.

This is our cabin.  Bed quite comfortable.  And lots of pillows for Bob.

The desk area is tight.  I work on the coffee table while Bob sits at the desk.  We found out we can raise the coffee table to the right height for me to type in comfort.  So it works out fine.

We spent the day exploring the ship.  I will post pictures as we go along.

This is the elevators at stairway B.  We are on deck 8 and the buffet is on deck 7 so we use the stairs.

We enjoyed lunch in the King's Court.  Then back to the cabin for our nap.

After the nap we headed down to the King's Court for coffee and tea.  We took it to the Winter Garden and sat by a window and enjoyed the sailing.  The weather is still cold.  I don't think we will see warm weather this entire trip.  Oh well.

We have early dinner so we dressed and enjoyed a cocktail in the cabin.  Then headed to deck 2 for dinner.  After dinner we enjoyed the Strings in the Chart Room.  We had another cocktail and were joined by two German ladies who just took the ship from Hamburg to Southampton.  On Saturday, the European Football final is being held in London.  It is between two teams from Germany.  So I think lots of the folks might be going to the game.  The one lady did speak some English but the other did not or would not.  Who knows?

Back to the cabin to watch some news and the lights out.  We gained our first hour.  Five more to go.

Hamburg then QM2

Had a great night sleep.  After dinner last night, we watched a bit of TV but it was all about the killing in London so we turned if off.  Up this morning for tea and coffee in the room.  Weather seems cold but at least it is not raining.

We walked to Starbucks for breakfast.  There is one right across the street from our hotel.  Then we decided to walk to the port.  Well, we started out the right way but the sign did not say to turn so we ended up going the wrong way.   We got ourselves turned around and headed to the port.  There was one ship in but we did not know which line.  Probably a German line.  We saw where the QM2 is supposed to be docked.  There were tons of taxis and buses waiting for the ship.  We think the ship is to arrive around 2 pm.

The walk back to the hotel was not so bad since we went directly to it with a stop at the market for some cough drops and toothpaste.  Both Bob and I are getting a cold.  It is no wonder.  I have never been this cold since I moved to Florida.

We were not able to get a late check out so we will pack up and the hotel said they would store our luggage for us.  We will get lunch and then walk a bit and then wait until around 5 before heading over to the port.  On our walk we bumped into a couple with the QM2 documents in their hands.  They did not get the message.  So I guess they will just wait at the dock until boarding time.  That may be the case for a lot of people if they do not check their emails on a regular basis.  Thank goodness for free internet here in this hotel.

We checked out of the hotel and stowed our luggage with them.  We walked about town, to the town hall, around the lake, and finally to a small cafe for lunch.  This was a local place.  Lots of business men stopped here for lunch.  We ate and then continued our walk.  Stopped at a hop on hop off bus and decided to waste some time so we got on.  It was hard to hear because here in Hamburg, the German speaking guide is on a mike and the rest of us have to use ear buds.  But the mike is so loud, you can just hear the English.  I asked him to turn the mike down and his answer was for me to turn up the volume on my set.  I thought this was dumb.  Why should I blow out my hearing.

At around half of the tour it turns out we were the only ones on the bus so the guide came up front and gave us a personal tour.  That was the best part of the tour.

We got off the bus where we got on and walked back to the hotel.  I thought we were going to read or something to waste time but Bob got a cab and we headed to the port.

Once there, what a mess.  The passengers had not finished disembarking and already the few seats they had were taken.  So we had to stand and wait for one and a half hours before they started to embark us. We had arrived at the port at 4:15 pm and finally on the ship at 5:30 pm.  I have never liked Cunard for their class system and now I am sure about it.  When they opened the lines, first called were Gold, Diamond, etc.  Then the next were Princess and Queen Grill.  Then us.  They did have lots of girls checking us in but it still took over one half hour to get through the line.

When we finally got to our cabin, the luggage was already here.  That was the good part.  So we unpacked and put things away.  The cabin is what we expected.  We do have a bit of a view.  We are located between life boats.  I will have Bob take pictures around the ship and post a few each day.

Our dinner is in Britannia Restaurant.  Our waiter is Brando from The Philippines, and Tracy from South Africa.  They are very nice.  We were a little late getting to dinner but not so that they turned us away.  We have a nice table for two in the back of the lower deck.  Nice, Thanks Lyn.

After dinner we had the muster drill.  An issue that I do not like, announcements are in English and German.  Don't like that but what can one do.   Lots of German folks on this ship.  And pushy to say the least.  Plus stuffy Brits.  One lady at dinner complained to the head that people were not dressed properly to be in the dining room.  Give me a break, they just got on the ship.

At any rate, after the drill, we returned to the cabin and Bob went to bed while I read.  He is fighting a cold.  I am better.

Train to Hamburg

Our hotel was right across the street from the train station so we walked over pulling out luggage all the way.  The cobble stones make dragging the luggage a little difficult.  But we made it.  Our train was scheduled to leave at 10:16am so we headed to track 22.  Bob went to buy a book on Munich and when he returned we went up to our car and waited till they opened the doors.  Our luggage was stowed and we settled in for the 6 hour ride.

The ride was uneventful.  We had lunch in the dining car.  We both had a salad and a beer.  Then tried to take a nap but not able as the seats do not recline.  At any rate, we arrived in Hamburg on time and got a cab to take us to the hotel.  We were upgraded to a Jr. Suite.  Too bad we are only here one night.

Took a walk and found the weather cold and windy.  So we shopped for some chips and nuts and returned to the hotel.  Open a bottle of wine and ate the chips while watching BBC news.

Decided to eat in the hotel for a salad.  I got an email from Cunard to say the QM2 will be late coming to Hamburg.  So we cannot get on her until after 5pm.  I think sail away is scheduled for 1am.  I will miss it.

Dinner was good.  Each of us had a salad and Bob had a martini while I opted for water.  Now watching news and will turn off the lights.

Next entry will be about our day in Hamburg and the QM2.

Munich to Hamburg

Last night we walked up the street and stopped at Augustine Grill.  This is a typical German Beer Hall. When we entered, they wanted to seat us right in the traffic lane and we asked for another table.  So they took us up front and sat us at a table for 4 where there were already two other people.  So we introduced ourselves and it comes to find out that they are Americans from Green Bay, Wisconsin.  So we had an enjoyable time chatting away about travel, Wisconsin, football, sailing, and operations.  And the food was good too.  We must have sat there for over two hours.  In most of Europe, when you sit down for dinner, the table is yours for the entire evening if you want.  They only give you the check when you ask for it.  No hurry.  So this was the case last night.

Walked back to the hotel and I tried to print out tickets for the QM2 but have not been able to do it yet. I will talk to the business center in the morning.  Must be a way to do this.

When I got up to the room I decided to try and print the documents.  Well it looks like it went through.  Will print them in the morning.

Now it is morning and we need to pack up and go to the train station.  Will stop at business center on the way to breakfast.  A gentleman assisted us and we were able to print our e tickets for the QM2.  That is such a relief.

Breakfast in the dining room.  I only had green tea, grapefruit, and pastry.  Bob had a nice omelet along with mushrooms and chicken wings.  We have never had wings for breakfast before but they are quite good.

We are all packed up and ready to go.  The train leaves at 10:16am and we arrive in Hamburg around 4pm.  We have seats so no worry.  Just that we have to lug all this luggage for the last time.  I now know that I packed too many clothes and too much jewelry.  So in the future, I promise to be better.

I will post this now and then tell about the train ride and Hamburg later.

Munich, Germany

We got up and dressed for breakfast here in the hotel.  It is a buffet with all kinds of selections.  Then we got ready for our bus tour.  Our guide was the same gentleman we had yesterday for the ride into Munich.  John.  Nice fellow.

Our first stop was the the summer residence of the royal family.  This is called the Castle Nymphenburg.  King Ludwig II was born here.  The family really only stayed here during the summer months.

Nothing like a small summer cottage.

Next we stopped at BMW World.  I picked out my next car.  They had a types of BMWs on display as well as the Mini's and Rolls Royces.  BMW is one of the largest manufacturers in the world and has its headquarters in Munich.  The assembly plant is quite large.

I think I look smart but it is not as easy to get out of as my Honda.

This one is a bit out of our price range.

BMW headquarters.

We then headed into the city itself.  The bus left us off and we then walked about.

The Munch Opera House.

We were in time to hear the glockenspiel.  The two levels rotate.  The upper level is the wedding procession and the lower level shows the coopers dancing.

The netting is to keep the birds away.

This shows the Bavarian slaying the Austrian.  Never happened in real life - only here.

And the coopers dancing in the square.

Lunch was at a cafe recommended by John.  We all ate there.  We sat by ourselves.  I had six different sausages along with sauerkraut and whipped potatoes.  Bob had garlic soup and apple strudel.  We shared them all except for the soup.  And of course, we each had a dark beer.  I am getting to like dark beer better than blond beer.  More flavor.

Headed back to the hotel and a nap.  I caught up on the blog first and then nap.  I bit the bullet and bought 24 hours of internet time.  Better than carrying around the computer looking for free internet.

I found out that in this part of Germany, they fly the Bavarian Flag and not the German flag.  They are still uncomfortable about the role they played in WWII.

When we awoke, we found it raining along with thunder and lightening.  Now not sure if we will go out or just stay in the hotel.

Vilshofen, Departure, enroute to Munich

Last night on board and it was probably the best.  We went out to the beer garden party.  They had set up a tent with picnic tables.  We all got either beer or soda to drink.  Had a band and then the children of the area danced the traditional dances of the area.  It was fun.

At night they light the bridges and some of the churches.  Bob went up on deck to get these pictures.

I think this is town hall.

And just one of the many churches in this town.

Same tower by daylight.

Then we got back on the boat for dinner.  We were invited to dine in the special restaurant.  We had a wonderful table for two.  First time all cruise.  And the dinner was wonderful.  We both had the steak which was tender and wonderful.  Everything about the dinner was terrific.  They saved the best for last.

This being our last night, we need to pack and get ready to travel to Munich.

We got up early, dressed and packed.  These bags are getting fuller and fuller.  Not sure if my packing is getting worse or I am buying too many gifts.  :-)

We ate breakfast with John and Trink and Marilyn and Lillian.  Then we got ready and headed for our bus which was taking us to Munich.  There were about 30 in our group.

WE stopped in Regensberg.  We had been here before on the last cruise.  I remembered when we crossed the stone bridge.  Bob finally remembered when he saw the store where we bought his shirts.
We did a one hour walking tour and then some free time.  We revisited the Cathedral and then stopped and had lunch of pizza and beer.

They are doing some reconstruction of the stone bridge so they made this temporary bridge for us to cross.

And of course, the Danube.

The stone bridge from another angle.

Just to prove that I really crossed the bridge, I am in the black outfit.  Notice I am not too close to the edge.

Entrance into the city via the gate.

The very wealthy built their homes as tall as they could.  The taller the building, the richer you were.

On our revisit to the Cathedral, we thought you might enjoy some of the stained glass windows.

The front altar of St. Peter's Cathedral.

Bob was finally able to capture some of the wonderful details of the windows.

Close up of the altar.

On our walk back to the bus, we took another route so we were able to see the stone bridge from the other side.

And this bus knows how to travel.

Back on the bus for our ride to Munich.  When we arrived I checked in while Bob got the luggage.  We got up to the room and then unpacked.

Out for a walk.  This hotel is right across the street from the train station.  And I did not even plan this.  So we stopped in to check it out and then walked the streets of Munich.

The start of the walk.

We stopped by this small church on our walk.  Low ceilings but pretty none the same.

Then we stopped at St. Michael's Church.  They were getting ready for Vespers.  Today was a holiday here in Germany.

The pulpit of St. Michael's.

And of course, the pipes in the rear of the church.

Next stop was to Church of Our Lady.  They were already having Vespers so we could not take any pictures.  Bob did snap this one but was told during service, no camera.

The building at the end of the street is the old town hall.

And this is the new town hall.  The glockenspiel are the small people.  We were there at 6pm and waited to watch them dance, but they only run it at 11, 12, and 5pm.  So we missed it.

Had dinner in a small place of sausage and beer.

My dinner.  My beer is out of the shot as is Bob's.

And Bob's dinner.

And then back to the hotel and bed.
