Puerto Madryn, Argentina

Today is Thursday and we are docked here in Puerto Madryn, Argentina.  We arrived last night at about midnight for a medical emergency.  But we were not able to get off the ship until this morning when the authorities cleared the ship.

Puerto Madryn

We had breakfast in La Veranda and got ready for our tour.  The last time we were here we went out to see the Elephant Seals.  Did not want to do that again, so this time we rode out to a Welsh community to have Welsh tea and hear the choir sing.  A long drive for tea, but it was interesting to see the countryside.  And the tea cakes were good.

We returned to the ship via the beachside here in Madryn.  A popular spot for the locals summer vacation.  School will start the end of this month.  The children have been on summer vacation since the end of December.  We had lunch in La Veranda and now it is nap time.  The water is back in the pool so we will do our exercises this afternoon.

We went up to the pool deck about 3:30 so I missed the afternoon session of needlepoint, tea, and trivia.  But we did need to get our exercises in.  There were some others in the pool but both Bob and I try to stay in one area so we don't bother the others.  We exercised for one hour and then used the hot tub as the wind picked up once we left port.

As we were backing out of the port, the stern of the ship was pushed,we think by the strong winds, into part of the dock and we broke a window in the Compass Rose.  Good thing it happened before dinner.  No one was injured and they will repair the window at our next port.

We dressed for dinner and headed down to Horizons for cocktails.  We are having dinner with Mr. Knight (Ed) and Marie.  We met them on our last Seaborne cruise.  Ed is 95 and travels with Dale Jones ( his butler that he met on a cruise) and Marie (his business assistant).  Ed lives in Key West but grew up in Jacksonville.  He knows lots of interesting people and has lots of stories to tell.  During dinner, as the sun was setting, we asked the waiter if we could have the curtain closed as it was in my eyes.  The lady at the window table said no.  Can you imagine.  Oh well.  We were eating in Signatures and the food was good.

The show was before dinner and we had seen it before so no show for us.  We need to set the clocks one hour ahead, so we headed to the cabin and bed.  Tomorrow is another sea day.  Will add more pictures of this port tomorrow as Bob had not edited them all.
