Shanghai, China for Two and a Half Days- Updated with pictures

On Tuesday the 11th of March, we docked in Shanghai.  We entered the river at around 3am but did not get to the dock until around 11 am.  It is a long river to reach the center of Shanghai.  Our ship is small enough to get right down town.

The skyline of Shanghai is wonderful.

As you arrive, you are overwhelmed by the building still going on.

And lots of bridges that cross the river.

Our tour today if "21st Century Shanghai and the Maglev Train".  We had an early lunch and gathered for our tour.  Our first stop was to the Jin Mao Building.  This is an opportunity to see Shanghai from the 88th floor.  The ride to the 88th floor is quick.  When we arrive, you can view the city 360 degrees. Bob took lots of pictures but has not edited them as of yet.

Our ride up was quick.  As my family knows, I do not like heights.  But up I went.

Bob took lots of pictures from the 88th floor.  Our ship is in the distance.

More from the 88th floor.

The round building is the Pearl Tower.  It is a TV tower.

More from the 88th floor.

And this is the view of the atrium from above.

Next we traveled to the train station where we got on the train that takes you to the airport.  It takes less than 8 minutes to get there.  Top speed is 431 km which is pretty fast.  We stayed on the train and took it back to the station.

This building will become the tallest building when completed.

You go 431 km/h for about only three minutes.  But is is quite a ride.

The station is quite sleek.

As are the trains.

Then the bus drove around the city and the Bund.  And then back to the ship.

Dressed for dinner.  Cocktails in the Observation Lounge where we sat looking out at the city and all the lights.  Several of the buildings put on a light show which is very nice to see.  Then dinner at Compass Rose where we also had a table looking out.  Lots of the passengers went to see the Chinese Acrobats but we had seen them in the past so we did not go again.  So the dining room was not at all full.

Back to the suite and lights out.  I will post this now but add pictures when I get them.
