Keelung, Taiwan

Today we dock at Keelung.  This is the port city for Taipei.  Our tour today was "Keelung and Natural Wonders".  We went up to breakfast and the place was pretty full.  Everyone getting off, I guess.

Went to the theater to get our bus assignment and what a mob scene.  The line was out the door.  So we stood in line and talked with a men who is from Jacksonville.  Small world.

Finally the line moved and we got our bus assignment.  We had to then go through immigration here at the port.  This actually went quite quickly.  And then off to the bus.

Our first stop was to Chung Cheng Park.  The weather was rainy but we charged ahead.

This group of young students greeted us as we left the terminal building.

We headed out to the park where we saw this temple.

this is the gate to the temple.  You walk up many steps to get to the top.

In this part of the world, statues are bigger and whiter than in USA.

So Buddha is a large and white.

And lots of extra large statues.

This is the bell tower.

And the view from the temple area.  You can see our ship in the distance.

More of the temple area.

And above us all is this statue.

She is quite large.

At the bottom are these two lions.  They do not look friendly.

Inside the pagado is this statue.

We visited yeliu Geopark.  this is an area where the sea has eroded the land.  And left these figures.  Yeliiu is full of seawater-eroded holes as well as numerous rocks in the shape of mushrooms, candles, and the like.

The weather was raw.   So we only walked out took some pictures and headed back to the bus.

Lots of Chinese visitors.  And since the weather was so bad, we opted to return to the bus.

Back on the ship, we had a quick lunch and then our nap.

I went to needlepoint in the afternoon and met Vivian, the new social hostess.  Today they had cronuts again.  Then back to the suite to clean up for dinner.  Tonight was the Block Party.  This is where you meet your neighbors.  Next door is Doll and her husband from New Jersey.  Met Victor from Holland and others.

Next we had the cocktail party with the group traveling with Brown and Keene.  This is our travel agency and we got to meet Ngarie who owns the agency.  We use Susan but she was not here.  There are about 20 couples with the group.  We spoke with the Captain and then headed to dinner with Ray and Elda.  Had a nice table for 6.  The other couple was the same one we sat with when we were on the Navigator last October.

Back to the suite and read and lights out.
