From Brussels to Amsterdam

Thursday will find us on the road to Amsterdam.  The buses leave the hotel at 8:30am.  We have to have our luggage out by 7am.  Breakfast and off we go.  We sat with the gang and had a very nice last breakfast at the hotel.  We got on the buses about 8:30am.  The weather again was cold and rainy.

We drove up north to the Hague.  But there was no time to really stop and see the area.  We did stop at Madurodam which is a model of the Netherlands in a scale of 1:25.  The kids would love this as it is interactive with examples of you being a lock keeper, a dike guard, a pilot or a machinist.  But the weather was cold and rainy so not a nice day to be outside.

Lunch was at a seaside hotel.  Good but too much food.  Then back on the bus for another hour until we arrived in Amsterdam.  Traffic is not the best and the roads are so small for the bus to get around.  Embarkation was a snap.  Just had to give our passport to the desk and she gave us keys to the room.  We were led to the room by Ryan, a waiter, and he explained the cabin to us.  Lots of good storage.  But tight.  No balcony but a door that opens to the outside.  I think they call it a French Balcony.

We gathered for our orientation by the Captain and then the General Manager.  Both were quite entertaining.  And then one of the Tour Managers spoke on what we were doing tomorrow.

Then we headed to dinner and sat with the gang.  I skipped the appetizer but had the soup and main course of fish.  All very good.  Then I had tea and cheese plate.  Bob and I walked about the ship and then returned to the cabin for vodka and reading.

No pictures today.  Maybe it will be nicer tomorrow for pictures.
