Amsterdam, Netherland Day Two

We stayed here in Amsterdam overnight.  We woke up and dressed for the day.  After breakfast they had a lecture on the Dutch Masters.  Would have been great if they did it before we went to the Rijks.  Oh well.

Amsterdam has lots of bridges.  This one is nicknamed "Dolly Parton".  I wonder why.

Our excursion today is a visit to Keukehof Gardens.  This is miles and miles of tulips, daffodils etc.  Just beautiful but today there were over 50,000 people there.  It was human gridlock.  It made me uncomfortable.  At times you could not move.  People pushing and shoving all over.  So after we had lunch we headed back to the bus and back to the ship.

On April 20, 2013, they have a parade of flowers.  This is probably why it was so very crowded.

The following are just some of the pictures we took at the Gardens.  It was a beautiful, sunny but cold day.  It looked like spring.

The yellow tulips are so tall they come to your knees.  I have never seen this type of tulip.  Tall tulips make me think of Aiden standing so tall and proud.

This is just a beautiful daffodil.

Just more beautiful tulips.

I loved these purple daisies.  Makes me think of Gretchen.

Flowers as far as the eye can see.

On the ride back to Amsterdam we passed this bike.  Now that is what I call a great way to exercise.  The guy in the front cannot drink as he is the leader.

It is called the beer bike.  Everyone pedals and all drink but the guy in front.

Tonight is the last night on this ship for us.  We then will be on our own for one week before we get on the next river boat.

Cocktails in the lounge and then down to dinner.  We said our goodbyes to Cory, Anne, Frank and Judy.  They have to be off the ship at 6am.  They have a flight at 9am.  We only have to be out of our cabin by 9am.   We will probably stay on the ship until about 11 and then over to the hotel.

We have enjoyed this trip because of the company.  We have promised we will get together again and not wait 48 years.
