Willemstad, Curacao

Monday we docked in Curacao.  We did not get here until 10:45am so they had a gathering of the Gold, Platnim, etc for a sail into Curacao.  We sat with some of the cruise critics that we had met before.  Bob took pictures and I visited.

Our shore excursion was a snorkle experience and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement.  We got on an old school bus with the windows taken out and traveled to a photo stop and then our first snorkle spot.  You had to walk over rocks and lava to enter the water.  There is not much coral here so the fish we spotted were the typical ones you would expect.  The second spot had a sunken tug which was a distance to swim to but interesting.  Several persons were upset with the excursion.  They did not offer us fins or vests.  I am a fairly strong swimmer so I can do without the fins but I do feel more comfortable with a vest.  But with the shore so difficult to walk on, I kept my shoes on and swam with them on.  At least I got some good exercise.

We returned to the ship and cleaned up.  Tonight we have reservations at Prime 7.  We had our cocktails at the Mariners Lounge and then dinner at a nice table for 2.  During dinner a table for 4 was right next to us and as Bob and I were talking about what we would do that evening I stated the football game and the gentleman at the next table said the game was the best.  He an Alamaba fan.  Turns out that both couples were from Jacksonville and have condos in Ponte Vedra.  Both were former chairmen of the board at Baptist Hospital.  So we talked with them and plan on having dinner with them.  They are on till Buenos Aries.  Small world.

After dinner, which was just okay as we are spoiled by Ruth Cris, we headed back to the cabin and did watch the start of the football game.  Then lights out as we were tired with all the swimming and no nap.

The pictures seem to be too big but the first one is of our first snorkle stop and the second one is of the bus we took. Just learned how to size the pictures so it looks much better.
