Rescue at Sea

Yesterday the Captain announced that there was a medical emergency and the Chile Navy was sending a helicopter to the ship to off load the passenger.  The helicopter was to arrive at 9:15 am.  The fire teams were sent to their stations in full gear.

We waited by a window to watch the activity but the helicopter did not show up.  The Captain then announced that it had to refuel and would be delayed.

At 10:00am they had a party on the bow of the ship for the Gold, Platinum, and Titanium members of the Seven Seas Society.  They served hot chocolate and Mulled wine.  Plus other goodies.  They also had the glacier ice on display.  Bob did not attend as he was waiting for the helicopter to arrive.

I returned to the cabin and Bob also was there when the Captain announced the helicopter was in sight and everyone off the outside decks and balconies.  The helicopter would not start the rescue until everyone was inside.  Bob ran up to take pictures.

Arrival

Coming to deck 11
They drop the rescue man and unhook him.  He brings the basket with him.  They then place the passenger into the basket and hook them up to the hovering helicopter and up they go.  It does not take long for the entire process.

After the rescue, life on the ship returned to normal.  We had lunch in Compass Rose.  While eating, Didi asked if we wanter to eat in Prime 7 tonight.  We said yes.  We then took a nap and after we got up we decided to do our water exercises for one hour.  Bonnie and David were in the pool when we got there.  The time seems to go fast when I talk and exercise at the same time.

Dinner in Prime 7 was with a couple from Brisbane, John and Dot.  They got on in Ft. Lauderdale but are getting off in Buenos Aires.  Great conversation but not so great food for me.  I ordered the prime rib but it was too much and overdone.  Bob and the rest all had lobster which they all said was good.  After dinner we went back to the cabin.  We had seen the piano player before so did not feel inclined to see him again.
